National Disaster Life Support (NDLS)

This suite of courses will be taught by instructors from New Mexico and Arizona.  The NDLS curriculum includes a full-day basic course, and a two-day advanced course.  The curriculum was created by a national educational consortium, with the endorsement of the AMA, to meet the evolving need for advanced training in the recognition and management of "all-hazards" threats (nuclear, biological, chemical, explosive and natural disasters  These courses (BDLS®, and ADLS®) target emergency physicians, critical care/emergency nurses, paramedics, primary care providers, and medical students.

The curriculum is developed with an all-hazards approach (recognition and management) to disaster response. Also, the concepts of MASS Triage and Disaster Casualty Zones are reinforced continually throughout the chapters. The curriculum is focused on the development of "hands on" skills and allows the provider to apply the knowledge learned using simulated disasters.
