Advanced Disaster Preparedness & Response (ADPR)

Disasters are increasing worldwide, necessitating increased awareness of any proficiency in the interdisciplinary clinical response to provide improved medical care for disaster victims. This 4 hour course helps emergency personnel with various methods of triage, situational awareness, natural disasters, explosives and decontamination.

This course is divided into the following topics:

  • Triage
  • Situational Awareness
  • Natural Disasters
  • Explosives
  • Decontamination

Course Objectives:
The Advanced Disaster Preparedness & Response (ADPR) program is a 4 hour course. Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

  • Apply the ABCDEs to real life
  • List and apply decontamination for each of the three general types of hazards
  • Describe scalability & situational awareness
  • Define the meaning of each letter in the ABCDE paradigm of ADPR
     

Continuing Education:
The University of Arizona College of Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the  activity.

  • Answering the Call (ATC): A four-hour introductory awareness-level domestic preparedness course focusing on emergency response and preparedness needs in New Mexico and Arizona. The courses are separated into one focusing on NM and the other on AZ. The AZ course can be presented as individual or a combination of four 1-hour modules. Available in a fee based face-to-face course or free in our online and CD formats.These face-to-face courses and trainings are offered at different times during the year.   • Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS): 1 day fee based basic training course to recognize and manage threats of all hazards.

  • Customized workshops, drills, table top, functional and full scale exercises:  These can be developed and customized for your organization, delivered by subject experts and evaluated by master exercise planners.  These are fee based upon what your needs are.
